A building energy rating inspection usually takes two to three hours to carry out depending on the size and layout of the house.

The assessor will start by looking for the house owners ESB MPRN to verify the exact location of the house, we will then start by measuring the total floor area and every room area, window area, roof area, radiators, light types, Hot water cylinder size and wall construction just to name a few detailed specification.

We then input all our measured data into software called this calculates the energy rating of the property. A building energy rating certificate is then produced which will then tell you the energy efficiency of the property.

The Building energy rating certificate will tell you:

  • ·         Energy Efficiency Rating
  • ·         Estimated Energy Usage
  • ·         Co2 Emissions and fuel costs of the property

The Building Energy Rating comprises of 2 things

  1. Building energy rating certificate
  2. Advisory report

 The Ber Energy Efficiency Rating

The Ber energy efficiency rating is the measure of the overall efficiency of a property. The better the building rating the more energy efficient the house will be and the lower the fuel cost.

The advisory report explains where the most energy is used and lost in a house, it recommends measures that can be taken to improve the property’s energy efficiency. Some of the Recommendations on the advisory report are very small easy suggestions like installing a lagging jacket on a Hot water cylinder or install low energy lights.
